THE SAWMILL SHOWDOWN
The Sawmill Showdown Team Event is a two-person tactical competition that fuses functional fitness with practical shooting under pressure. Built for athletes who perform better together, this event rewards communication, pacing, and execution, not just raw strength or shooting skill.
Teams will move through multiple stages combining physical work and live-fire marksmanship, solving problems as a unit while racing the clock.
This is not a relay. This is not an individual event side-by-side. This is a true team competition.
What Makes the Team Event Different
Shared strategy: Decide how to divide work and shooting responsibilities
Communication under stress: Clear calls matter as much as fitness
Balanced performance: Teams that move and shoot well together win
Realistic problem solving: Tactical movement, positions, and decision-making
Strong shooters with poor conditioning won’t survive. Fit athletes who can’t shoot under stress won’t place.

DIVISIONS
Divisions are designed to keep competition fair and challenging. Final division standards will be published prior to the event, but expect options such as:
Prime
The Prime division is the most challenging, where weight and fitness requirements are highest. Men’s Prime, Women’s Prime, and COED Prime teams will compete against each other in the same division. The weight and fitness requirements will be unique to the men, women, and coed teams.
Intermediate
The Intermediate division, while still challenging, offers lighter weights and less stringent fitness requirements. Men’s Intermediate, Women’s Intermediate, and COED Intermediate teams will compete against each other in the same division. The weight and fitness requirements will be unique to the men, women, and coed teams.
Masters
In the Masters division, expect weights and fitness requirements similar to that of Intermediate, but may be higher (or lower) depending upon the standard. Men’s Masters, Women’s Masters, and COED Masters teams will compete against each other in the same division. The weight and fitness requirements will be unique to the men, women, and coed teams.
Both athletes must meet division requirements as stated on Practiscore Registration Page.
EVENT FORMAT & EXPECTATIONS
The Sawmill Showdown Team event will feature 5 stages spread across the amazing terrain of the Sawmill Training Complex. Stage information will be shared the week of the event, but you can always expect some surprises along the way outside of the stage documentation.

MUZZLES & MUSCLES PROGRAM
Muzzles & Muscles is your ticket to not just showing up, but showing out on your next tactical shooting competition. Geared with Tactical Athletes in mind, this program aims to improve your physical fitness using the proven CrossFit methodology and equipment commonly observed in competition.
This dynamic program captures 6 weeks of warmups and workouts using a 3 day on / 1 day off training template.
What to Expect
Tailored warmups: Specific warmups to get your blood pumping along with mobility exercises unique to the workout.
Customized workouts: Experience high intensity functional fitness combined with unique and challenging WODs to help you achieve new levels of fitness. Workouts include strength and skill work, EMOMs, AMRAPs, and for time programming, gradually layering in weighted vest training.
Detailed notes: Take the guess work out by having notes sharing intended stimulus, recommended weights, and scaling substitutions written by CrossFit L1 & L2 Coaches. This includes division standards commonly seen in competition, spanning across both Men's and Women's RX and Intermediate, along with Men's Master's 50+ recommendations.
Get the Competitive Advantage
Inspired by the Sawmill Showdown Tactical Shooting Competition, adapt to standards across Men's and Women's RX, Intermediate, and Men's Master's divisions.
Take the Guess Work Out
Warmup & Workouts designed to last 60 minutes or less, just like in a typical class session. Detailed notes on intended stimulus for each workout to ensure you're hitting the desired effect, with scaling recommendations to keep that in check. Workouts gradually increase in difficulty while wearing plate carrier or weighted vest.
Where Training and Dry Fire Meet
Our training program simulates competition, where work components are interrupted with shooting components. Over 10 dry fire drills provided as rest components between rounds of prescribed workouts help emphasis controlled breathing and accuracy under stress.
Sawmill Showdown Sponsors include Born Primitive Tactical, Holosun, and GatMonkey Slings.
